Poetry Thursday- My Light
TK
The theme was to write a poem using words you love and words you hate. I found my inspiration in my 6 month old grandson. He is my first grandson and this blog is what I will leave behind for him :)
MY LIGHT
His eyes are full of innocent wonder
covered to a world full of hate.
Blue as a sky rinsed by spring rain
can he see my fear’s reflection.
His delicious skin untouched by scorn
will my grandma kisses be enough?
I hold him until he squirms, begging
for a reprieve. How do I protect him?
I will bestow upon him the blessings
I have received, life’s lessons learned.
Live with faith, love and compassion
never losing hope of a tolerant future.
For now I will spread my butterfly kisses
in his sweet folds, showering him in love.
Awaiting the moment our eyes will connect
as his knowing smile lights up my soul.
Gramy Tammy

You touched my heart, Tammy. Your grandson is a lucky boy to have you to love him as much as you do. And, he's a perfect inspiration for your poetic thoughts -- for words you love.

Tammy, I have only known you a very short time, but love your blog, and I enjoy seeing you and TK together so much. Both TK and your poem are a delight to see.
OMG, he's SO cute! Look at those eyes and those round little cheeks.
The poem is lovely. I hope you're saving it so he'll have it when he gets older.
PS...Loved your Pop Art portrait this week too. I'm way behind on blog visits and comments so I'm doubling up so I only have one verification word, since I never seem to type them right the first time. :-)

The whole poem was, but those last few really got me.
Oh what a cutie - I bet you can't stop kissing him! There's an echo of your poem in the Plath poem I posted today, too.

This is beautiful, Tammy. I loved "Blue as a sky rinsed by spring rain," for they are. Keep writing these beautiful poems for him!
What lovely photos Tammy, all that gorgeous kissable chubby flesh that babies have.

I firmly believe in the lasting power of Grandma kisses (and those are some really kissable cheeks - what a cherub!)
What a cutie he is. You just want to give him a big squeeze. And how lucky he is to have you as his Grammy.
