Sunday Scribblings - Music
I like music very much, but I also like quiet. The quiet of my dog breathing, the birds singing and the rain falling. When I feel the need for music I need it to fill my whole being and it will manifest its flow in various ways. It can cause tears, a smile from the past, romance, or a spontaneous urge to get up and shake my booty. Driving, blogging and cleaning are my usual times to enjoy music. I try to remember it with romance, but that's not always foremost in my mind. I usually remember the next day.LOL In the midst of exploring my creative side (writing, not romance) I've found myself drawn to soft sounds with poetic lyrics. At 44 I'm in a constant state of change (yes... hot flashes too) and my choices of music change with me. James Blunt is one of my current favorites, but I can't seem to get enough of Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten" (playing on my blog). The words encourage me to write, so I'm passing these words on to inspire us all. It calls for us to release our inhibitions...Yeah!
By Natasha Bedingfield
I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your innovations
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
Oh, oh, oh
I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live
that way
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inner visions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inner visions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
Oh, yeah, yeah

Beautifully-written post, Tammy. Your words - and the words in the song - are inspiring. Thank you!
Hmmm...wonder where you heard that song? See! I told you it was a great song! The more and more I read your blog, the more creative you're becoming. How lovely is that?!
This is a lovely post. Thank you for the inspiration!
Wow! What a great post, especially with the music, not just the words! Thanks!
such inspiring words, thank you - hope you have a great sunday :-)
Sx
This was inspiring and I was really touched by the song. I'll have to get it.
Thank you!
Fantastic post!!
Lovely thoughts, Tammy. And quiet, where the music is made up of simple notes, like "my dog breathing, the birds singing and the rain falling" is sometimes the most powerful music. I agree that desire for new, different music changes throughout life, as we change. And, I've said it before, I love this song, "Unwritten"!

This was a wonderful post, Tammy. Thank you so much for sharing the lyrics; they are so meaningful.
I have tried to write for Sunday Scribblings twice now and I just can't seem to make the words come out. So instead, I am enjoying the things that the blog community is sharing this weekend and am hopeful it will fill me up again. I always receive insipiration from your posts; thank you!
James Blunt and Natasha huh....those are two of Brandi's favorites.
"These Words"....was that intentional, LOL.

love this song, Tammy....one of my recent favorites. Thanks for sharing!
What a lovely post - and thank you for sharing the wonderful lyrics to "Unwritten." I had never heard it before, and can see it becoming a new favorite of mine.
As much as I love music, I too love the melodies of nature just as much. Right now, writing, I'm being serenaded by at least six different kinds of birds in my backyard, the soft hum of the ceiling fan, and of course, my two doggies breathing gently while they nap under my desk. A perfect symphony!
So Natasha Bedingfield has made it over the water?
Very apt words and lyrics, Tammy.
I love this song that you have on your blog-it brings such emotion to my heart.
You are such a beautiful soul-
XOXO
tammy, you've reminded me that our music changes as we do. yes, less loud than it used to be.
great words!
Good morning Tammy. I had no idea you had music on your blog as I usually don't have my speakers on. I immediately turned them on and am so glad to be hearing of this singer/songwriter for the first time. Sending you a big hug, Annie
those are two of my favorite songs as well. I'm into music myself, and have a very eclectic taste.
This song has beautiful words! Lovely.
I think the music on your blog is cool!
