Self Portrait Challenge- "With Someone"
When I moved my girls from the city to the country nine years ago, I met a real earth angel. I had moved to a beautiful location, bought my first home and was a single, disabled mom. The thing that freaked everyone out was that I did not know a single person here. That kind of hit me once I was sitting here on boxes in my new home with two hungry kids and no fast food in sight. A knock on the door and we met a live angel named Lynne.
Lynne and her husband took my family under their wings. Rick was a great handyman and helped us with the computer. Lynne became our family, confidant, helper, mom and friend.
They are a retired couple with no children who spend most of their time helping others. I could never list in one post all that Lynne has done for my family but I can say she has given us a feeling of being loved, feeling safe and watched over. Changing us all for the better!
She helped me prepare for my first date with Dave worried the whole time that he might be a "bad guy." It was 102 degrees and my air conditioning had gone out in the car. With ALS heat is a deal breaker and I had to drive an hour away to meet him. Lynne thought computer dating was crazy but she filled an ice chest with ice and left it open in the passenger seat with the fan on. She tucked a pack of dry ice under my butt, made a picnic basket and hugged me goodbye. I had to call upon arrival and let her know that he left his chainsaw at home. It was perfect that Lynne and Rick flew to Kauai to be our witnesses for our wedding.
She taught me all about finances, giving back and loving. Even though I have Dave she still fills my pills, brings over an occasional favorite dish, dyes my hair, we go to lunch and watches out for me if Dave is out of town. She is the hardest part of leaving this area because I will miss her terribly but I plan on calling A LOT! (She is rolling her eyes as she reads this). I love you Lynne!

What a sweet tale of friendship and love!
That picture of the two of you is beautiful - two shining, kindred spirits!
What a beautiful picture of the two of you! (Lynne looks just like one of my daughters-in-law!) I have a friend like this -- who lives in North Carolina. We have been best friends since we were roommates at college. We still call each other 2 0r 3 times a week. Thank God and Alexander Graham Bell! How lucky we are to have friends like this....
Such a gorgeous picture of you two. My, my, my!
And what a friendship you share. Beautiful is an understatement.
Isn't it simply amazing how many angels are living amongst us? I can think of one right now...she has a husband named Dave.
Love you~

She really is an angel, what a beautiful spirit. You're so lucky to have met such a great person. I do think dating is easier than finding that one amazing girl friend. I'm happy you managed to do so!
That's such a wonderful post and a beautiful photo. You and Lynne are lucky to have found each other.
Beautiful photo and what a special friend. Thanks for stopping by. It's great to have a blog twin out there, Tammy.

I love reading about good friends like that - it's great to know there are those kind of angels in the world. I have a feeling that you inspire angels, because you seem to radiate positive vibes all over the place. They come through cyberspace loud and strong, so I bet they're amazing in person!
