Poetry Thursday- Sex

This week seemed to really stump me because I was a tad uncomfortable. I'm no prude, but doing it and writing it in poetry form, were two different things. I was actually embarrassed and for people who know me, that would make them laugh. I think it's because most of the people who might read it don't know me. I wrote one anyway and stepped out of my safe place. I even used shape poetry for the first time, showing a climax without having to really spell it out. LOL

MARRIED SEX

Married
day to day routine
speaking with our eyes
never knowing quite when
a simple brush of bended knee
knowing touches, fanning flames
the dance begins, keeping in rhythm
soaring together like wings on a dove
holding still, not wanting an ending
breathing slows, butterfly kisses
look of contentment reflected
nothing needs to be said
time to end the day
happily

I did not intend this to look like a breast...oh dear! LOL To read much better poets go here

LOL indeed! But you outdid yourself! No need to be embarrassed, you did good.

LoL, I didn't even notice that until you said it.
This is a beautiful poem. I love how in a marriage, you fall into a rythm, you know each other's 'signs' and you can read each other's feelings. You captured so much in this poem. Beautiful.

a truly classy lady you are; you took a delicated subject and wrote a beautiful poem about it. Very nicely written

I'm impressed that you managed to incorporate shape to evoke a feeling in Blogger, since they are notorious for messing up formatting! (Very frustrating when you're trying to write something where the structure and look of the finished poem is important to the feeling!)

I like how your poem turned out.

Good for you, Tammy! You wrote a wonderful, tender poem. I appreciate the effort you made to shape the poem to avoid the need for graphic description; it was sensitive but effective.

I, on the other hand, am electing to be silent this week. I have read many of the posts and admire that others are able to share this important part of a relationship. I'm not a prude; I just don't choose to share this part of myself with the world. I want to keep it just for me and my husband.

I look forward to joining in again next week.

Love the shape, and the poem is very tender. It is so different, the married sex.

you've got to love a breast shape poem that starts on 'married' and ends on 'happily' ;-)

Tammy, what a gift, receiving and bequeathing, and as Susannah said, the companioning of the images below is truly reverent in the revelation. Wow.

Oh sweet Tammy...this poem is really great...the words capture the intimacy, each moment of in the process of making love. Good for you...stepping outside the "comfort zone".
I must admit...you have me giggling a bit...not the poem at all, just you...because I know you, and your embarrassment is too cute:)
I miss you and love you to pieces,
TD
PS - The previous photos of you and Dave are incredible...you two are truly the portrait of love...such an inspiration to me!

I agree - it works with the subject matter. This is beautiful (just like you) and nothing to be ashamed of. You're a wonderful writer and I love visiting you. We're always lucky to have something you've shared just waiting for us to read. I'm so glad you're better at keeping up with yours than I am with mine! lol. Thank you. Hugs, ~ Lori

Sex is intimate, yes. It is private~usually. (Sorrrrry, but I am a bit of an exhibitionist!) But it is something we all enjoy (well, most of us), and I do believe I would much rather read poetry and writings about sex than some of the other topics that make me wince.

You might have stepped outside of your comfort zone, but you stepped into a world of intimacy you were able to share with us. And you did it magnificently.

Love~
Nikki
