Self Portrait Challenge- "Imperfections"

This month's challenge is way too easy for me so I promise to be more creative in the coming weeks. I need to rack my brain on how to photograph procrastination and being too analytical :) This is my entry but I have added the next two just to explain "See Through Hands"

Loss of muscle is hard to show but I find it fascinating in my hands. I have a good grip but I have no pinchers. If you feel the muscle pad between your pointer and your thumb you can feel the muscle. In my hands you can't feel much muscle so it is odd to me I can still grip. So why I can drive a car but pulling up my pants or zipping a jacket is tough? It's a mystery to me:) My tongue muscles are also shrinking and that's why I speak with a margarita accent. When you look at my tongue it looks like it is full of Mexican jumping beans and kids think it's the coolest thing. When muscles shrink they do a rumba on their way out! That does not photograph well :(

I use left pointer to shift and middle finger to type. Blogger needs to work out their kinks because I'm having to put my ID & password on most of my comments not to mention wiping them off altogether...grrrr. I try and say what I think but if you get a short comment my muscles have begun a revolt! I wish I could respond to everyone in a timely fashion but I eventually catch up :)

Tammy - Your hands are beautiful in their own way.

My sister Mary has sever rheumatoid arthritis and her hands are quite curled and don't function well, but hers are beautiful too!

Hands are what I notice first about everyone - to me they are all beautiful and unique.

Thank you for taking the time to share something of yourself. And thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog and others! It means a lot! :)

This is the best Self-Portrait Challenge I've ever seen!

P.S. I'm thinking the little piece of art I sent you hasn't arrived yet? I sent one to another friend in San Fran around the same time, and she hasn't received hers either.

XOXO

These pictures are great, I LOVE the one with the light shining through. It looks so neat.

Tammy, now I feel even happier when I get a comment from you knowing that it is difficult to get done.

You are my new super hero of the day:)

Your hands are beautiful and they still do so much, cheering us all on through your hard-earned comments. Boo on blogger!
The photo reminds me of when I was a little girl and I first saw my mother's hand glow like that when she was trying to turn on the car light at the drive-in - I remember I was fascinated and kept asking her to do it again! xo

This is great Tammy. Love the one with the light shining through. Sometimes, it's our imperfections that make us who we are. 'Imperfections' make us beautiful. I believe that is certainly the case with you. Thanks for sharing!

Fascinating imagery to illustrate your situation. An honest and strong-impacting post. Thank you for sharing the reality of your situation with such strength.

I find your point of view fascinating, expressing things in terms of what you can do, as opposed to what you can't. You've listed your limitations, but in a way that shows how you work your way around them.

Calling you an inspiration might very well come off sounding like a cliché, but maybe not, if you knew how sincerely I meant it right now.

Leave the imperfections to blogger. You're just fine!

Your hands give out such lovely words of support and encouragement to everyone, I think they are fantastic

Hands are so telling, and so symbolic. Yours are beautiful, because they show the life you are fighting everyday to live, and the love you so easily give others. Even though it is a struggle for your hands to put that love into words! Ah, it is just sweeter yet. ;)

And what love you have in your life. How beautiful!

Ohhhh Tammy, just look at your creativity. That first picture is a stroke of genius! But then, I don't adore just ANYONE! ::grin::

I see your fingers, and I am once again reminded of how you are, indeed, a warrior. I think you are an inspiration to any and all.

And Dave's comment to you is simply beautiful.

Love you~

I really have a thing about hands, I recently took a photo of my mothers hands...and collect hand bits for a future art piece. I'd like to include your photo. Your hands, even with limitations, say more than some with two strong well working ones. That is what amazes me about you.....your spirit is so large and powerful it transcends anything else.

" ... and kids think it's the coolest thing". - Such a subtle but true observation, I guess kids have to grow to see imperfection.
