Self Portrait Challenge- "Imperfections"

Procrastinator is an imperfection that is so ingrained into the fabric of my life that I don't even try and change it. When I was a girl, if mom gave me a list of chores I always completed the list however it was usually in warp drive 15 minutes before she got home. In high school I NEVER did a report early and I always studied the night before a test, or even the morning of. My grades were just good enough to retain my cheerleader status with the folks. . . priorities!

I stayed in my first marriage way too long and kept putting off moving up the corporate ladder. I succeeded at both, but due to my procrastination I wasted valuable time I would come to need. I will come up with the lamest excuses as to why I can't workout, drink more fluids or eat during the day. I put off taking my pills until I have forgotten them altogether. I let my hair get really long and grey before I'll get it cut and colored. I could go on and on but you get the picture. That's just me!

In blogging I do each post the day it's due and that is why I'm not a great poet/ writer, but this is my 200th post since November 2005. Not too shabby for a one finger gal who never wrote a creative word until 2005 :) I even signed up to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. LOL Now that will take a lot of persistence over procrastination!

Congrats on your 200th post! YAY!

I'd suggest we form a procrastinator's club, but I don't suppose we'd ever get around to doing anything with it. ;-)

I like the photo!

(Your haikus for ODB are lovely too)

It's strange - I was thinking you should write a novel just the other day. You write well, I find it difficult to believe that you only started writing in 2005. Also you have a really inspiring story and I think a lot of people would love to read it. So I'm really delighted to hear about your new project.

Ah! Nanowrimo! I don't know that I'm even going to attempt it this year... we'll (hopefully) be in the midst of moving. But good luck to you, and thanks for sharing -- I struggle with the same thing myself...

That photo is too perfect. The clock seals it! (And my God, woman, you have the loveliest eyes!)

I am a procrastinator when it comes to a few things, but I tend to want to get everything done way ahead of time. Falling behind or scampering to finish makes me feel overwhelmed.

Congratulations on the 200th post. And I do NOT want to hear that you are not a great poet/writer. Seems to me the greatest ones are the ones who can inspire others to feel and think amd believe. You do all three amazingly well.

Love you~

I love the "who, me?" look in your eyes. I am alternately a do-it-and-get-it-over-with person and procrastinator; it depends on the list of tasks.

I looked at the nanowrimo site but think it might be more than I can handle with company for a week over Thanksgiving (or any other month for that matter). Still under consideration...

I'm quite a good procrastinator myself, and blogging has certainly added to my proficiency in that field! At least I'm doing something to improve my mind :)

I also jumped on the nanowrimo wagon - we'll have to keep kicking each other in the butt to get it done! But, it'll be fun to try!

Great post and picture, Tammy. I've always been a bit of a procrastinator, too. High School and College projects were always latenight/all-nighters. I was trying to think of a way to post about procrastinating, but all I came up with was to skip the October challenge and then put up my 'imperfection' posts in November!! You nailed it, though. The picture really tells the story. Great job!

200th Post I am so impressed with you. Your creativity has grown so much this last year. Maybe being a procrastiner is why you have survived this disease longer than the majority of people with ALS. Something to think about Huh! Hugs :)

Great picture. I was wondering how anyone could capture procrastination, yet you certainly did. ... However, I'm not a believer that procrastination IS an imperfection.

I like that you recognise there are benefits in procrastinating ... it's not all bad :-)
Congrats on taking the step to sign up for nanowrimo (I signed up twice but *procrastinated too much* ... wrote *other stuff* instead of the 50000word novel : this year I've decided to focus on daily blogging. until I set new goals for next year.)

Happy 200! I'm a procrastinator too (sitting here when I should be in the shower!) and I've come to accept that about myself and thankfully don't stress about it anymore.

I've decided to turn this particular weakness into a strength. If I'm not doing it today, there is a reason... it's a choice I make based on my priorities for the present. I am choosing how to spend my moment. Forget feeling guilty - you have just achieved so much and enjoyed so many moments... :)

LOVE the music choice today!!! Love love love!

My friend Melissa did that last year, and she did it! I don't know if I could try it. Because I hate to try things I don't know if I can finish. What is that called? Fear?

Do you have a good idea?

:)

I'm hear you on the procrastination thing. I always put off my homework until the day that it's due. I guess I just like working under pressure!

Tammy, you are in the company of greats and not-so-greats in the procrastination category. It's a common disease!!! And why do we put ourselves through that gripping panic when the deadline is staring us in the face and we can barely, barely squeak by???

But, look what you have accomplished! 200 days when you have poured sweet, cool water on all our our hearts. What a gift you give us!

The novel - I KNOW you can produce something heart-stopping.
Can we see, please?

I'm a procrastinator too... I usually wait until the last minute, ingest large amounts of caffine, and then conquer the task... LOL
