One Deep Breath - "Roots/Connection"
I decided to be bold and meditate on my connection with nature without pictures. This is scary for me because my haiku/senryu must stand on their own...yikes! I used my wedding and childhood memories but Issa inspired my senryu on ants ;)
Double rainbows
bless vows as waves listen
God's alter, his creation
Night winds
tossing sleeplessly
windchimes bellow
Morning rain
fragrances are awakened
wet earth plays with senses
Rainbows in puddles
stomped by little feet
wet tarmacs sweet scent
Morning coffee
marching ants across counter
searching aimlessly

AhhHHHH! Double rainbows!!! What a beauty full gift GOD gave you and Dave on your wedding day!!! xo, Happy Monday girly!!!
Loved all of these! There were pictures in my head!
You did a great job, Tammy! I admit to using photos as my crutch for writing poetry--it's just where I usually find inspiration.
The first from your wedding is my favorite.
all of these are so good. I love the night winds tossing windchimes bellow. A comforting sound for me. Beautifully done. :)
Who needs pictures? Your words give us all the pictures we need - beautiful! Thanks Tammy.
Though I always love seeing your photos - these haikus have more than enough imagery to stand on their own! You had double rainbows at your wedding - how romantic is that - I'm swooning! :-)
XOXO
Double rainbows at your wedding, rainbows in puddles and the wonderful scent of wet earth - lovely images.
Sounds like you had a wonderful day!
The last one sounds so familiar... these were all just wonderful, Tammy!
These are wonderful, particularly the first and fourth. I love the phrase "rainbows in puddles stomped by little feet." I can just see the adorable little TJ stomping in puddles! xo
beautiful! yes, pictures started forming in my head as I read these verses. Awesome!
Never fear, they stand most beautifully on their own and even fly!
The one starting with "Nightwinds" is fabulous. And I also really like the ones starting with Morning rain, and Rainbows.
I agree, haiku, or any poem, is best when it can stand alone, even when it is based on a photo, and these haiku are good. And, Basho didn't have photos so you are in good company. Photos are also best when they can stand alone and don't need to be explained. (this comment is a second try, I apologize for blogger if gets sent twice)
Each beautiful on its own, as others have said. I love the image you gave my mind's eye of the ocean waves listening to your wedding vows.
Did you know that Whale (my insistent new friend!) is the Keeper of Records? Maybe the waves told her, maybe she added your wedding to the records that day. Maybe...
these are so beautiful, i especially love the morning rain and rainbows in puddles ~ so smile worthy :)
Who needs pictures? you draw a most beautiful picture and then it is left to the readers mind and the pictures they have in there head and I am sure that the picture in there head is much more real then any picture you could have put on you blog.Great job....Love Dave
efI agree - you don't need pictures because your words paint such vivid sceneries in my mind.
And your chronicles post.. just beautiful!
A lovely picture with your words. I could see the splash of the puddle! :)
Tammy,
There is no longer any doubt that your words stand alone. To create in the readers mind their own picture interpretations. Beautiful.
btw, I love Barbara!

I'm afraid my "connection with nature" is different than yours. Ants marching across my counter would not be searching for long, aimlessly or not. (grin) Morning coffee in one hand, spray in the other.

These are all extremely evocative - I especially love this one:
Morning rain
fragrances are awakened
wet earth plays with senses
I can perfectly smell that damp earth and feel the freshness ~ lovely!
These are inspring! I've been known to take those chimes down in the middle of the night! I will try my hand at this sometime, going within...Thanks!
I LOVE and HEART YOU!!! Tammy!!! LOVE and prayers, XOXOX, Cinda
Your talent impresses me more all the time. I especially like the "morning rain" one...yet they're all almost as special as you.
Hugs,
nancy
Tammy, you hit all the senses! These are great.
Wow, great work. I particularly like the last one: morning coffee and ants.
