Mothers and Interviews

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
INTERVIEWS BY MY FRIEND'S

My friend Judi at Talking to Myself interviewed me and she was one of my first commenter's. She has 4 grown children and a grandson. I've even spoken with her on the phone and she's a terrific gal. Her questions are:

1. Name a truth you’ve learned in adulthood, e.g., an aha! moment, but one that you might not have believed as a kid or even as a young adult. You must earn your life. You get exactly what you put out there.
2. What’s the most trouble you got into as a kid?
I was hit with a belt by my mom until I could tell time because we were late for church. I was at the age you learn to tell time and I gave her the wrong time. I was pretty much a good kid but I learned how to be sneaky out of fear of retribution.
3. Where/when (what time period) would you go if you could time travel? Who would you meet? I would go back to the time when Jesus walked the earth to ask for forgiveness and healing.
4. What astrological sign are you? Does your sign resemble your actual personality?I'm a Libra and I have most of the traits. Social, easily influenced, romantic, indecisive, charming and flirtatious. Self-indulgent on occasion.
5. I know you’re a big movie buff - who are your favorite actors/actresses and what are their best films? Also, feel free to tell whom you think is overrated (e.g., for me, Meg Ryan). I stink at names but I can see their faces. Meryl Steep, Johnny Dep, Judy Dench etc. I'm such a movie fan I'll find something to like and dislike in every movie. Not a fan of funny movies and I'll watch a movie because of an actor first, plot second. The Patriot with Mel Gibson is a movie that has all I look for in movies. Good acting, history, and moves me. Many actors are over rated, like Kevin Costner. I cringe at singers who try to act and actors who try to sing. Exceptions I can think of is Coal Minors Daughter and The Color Purple. Dejavu with Denzel Washington was very good and I love movies in beautiful places like A River Runs Through It and Memoirs of a Geisha.

Tabor at One Day at a Time is another blog friend that I really enjoy. She has been working on her retirement home and is a poet with an adorable grandson. Her questions for me were:
1. When was the last time you did a random act of kindness and what was it?
I snuck my daughter's mother-in-law a CD of our grandson TK. They have kept TK from them for 4mos over a feud. My youngest does not forgive easy and since I could be next us grandmas need to stick together.
2. What do you always or most of the time make excuses for? I always make excuses why I am not using my weights, taking my pills or eating during the day. For me it's about survival and independence, not looking good. It frustrates my family and yet I don't know why I'm not doing it routinely. I am in serious denial that I will continue my lucky streak. I'm going to have a task master in August named Dave. He is planning on bringing me back to reality.
3. When do you usually get unsolicited advice? When I bring up moving around my kids. They think I'm cutting them out of their life's, but I look at it as safe distance. (2 1/2 hr drive).
4. What is the best thing you learned in school? Socialization! I was sent to a private Catholic college prep school and I struggled. I learned my outgoing personality made up for my average grades. I left college after a year and went into salary sales. My socialization skills made a great living.
5. If you could change places with anyone, who would that be and why?
It would be a really healthy person and a hands on healer. I know they exist but I don't have a name. I think to be able to heal would be very cool for obvious reasons.
Great questions ladies! Have a fantastic weekend.

I love the new look of your blog, I was having real problems seeing the previous one, and so I haven't been by for a while. Really enjoyed this post, but I'm sorry you had to learn telling time in such a way.

I hope you're doing well, and lots and lots of love to you.

These were great questions! i never come up with good ones like these.

But I was sad you got spanked for not telling the right time. :( I remember I got smacked for not being able to read cursive writing one time as a kid, by my grandma. Must be the era of those women.

:)
