Sunday Scribbling - "Disconnected"

My Battlefield

My brain is in command
of the vessel that holds
my relentless soul

working as a front line to
defend and protect
against the attack of ALS.

Muscles come under fire
not receiving their orders
yet they keep on fighting

to survive day after day
while growing weaker
as others lay dying.

My brain was helpless
as it saw the disconnection
unable to stop progression

a new strategy of bringing in
the heart and soul
held the enemy at bay.

They will always choose to fight
because surrendering
is never an option.

How this word, disconnected, must resonate with you. Fighting is not really a choice, you must do it every day. I echo everyone else's sentiments Tammy. Keep on fighting! We are all in your corner!

Not to get lost in the empathy of your subject, this is a deeply connected poem. I think it is vibrantly reflective of your passion and conviction. Nice work, Tammy. Thank you for sharing it.

I wish I had your courage. To be able to shout to the world "I will not quit" is an awesome testimony of the beauty of your inner self. the portrayal of your struggle was well written. Old Grizz salutes you. You are what the word courage means.
